5 points to me for not posting in...ever.

ok...district fine arts is over, and we're going to Florida for Nationals!!  that's pretty sweet, and i'm excited, etc.  list time :)

gud stuff:

1.  My photography entry advanced with a perfect 40 from one judge.

2.  Our two spoken dramas advanced (out of only three that scored high enough to move to nationals)

3.  rache's human video advanced, as did her sermon.  she's cool.

4.  worship team advanced.  pretty sure none of us were expecting that.  except maybe joel.

5.  choir advanced and got showcased

6.  one judge gave my poem a 39 (almost perfect).  more on this in the "bad" section

bad stuff:

1.  the boy's human video didn't advanced, even though it was awesome

2.  none of our ensembles advanced...ah well

3.  i got a 29 (pretty low) on my poetry entry from some judge who didn't know that not all poems  have to rhyme or something.  i'm working on a letter to the district office about this one.

that doesn't even come close to describing the weekend...all i can say is it was really fun.  and i'm pumped about nationals.  and everybody who went to districts...you rock :)

So we're down to having three weeks left before fine arts.  and i'm so not ready.  at all.  oh well.  last minute panic and makeup practices are always fun.

the "lord peter wimsey" books are good.  thank you, audrey, for introducing me.  and uh...coffee is good too.

happy valentines day!

i like saturdays.  especially ones that include music and driving around with the car windows down and lazing around with my cat.  ah yes...a single day with nothing really to do (and remember when i used to complain that i was always bored?  whatever happened to that? ha).  and i'm beginning to remember how much Fine Arts can mess up a schedule...i'm at the church pretty much 5 days a week now for practices.  man.

anyway...i've finally gotten the GED exam out of the way so i should have a real diploma and more scholarship money coming pretty soon.  that's cool.  it wasn't really as bad as it could have been.  but i'm thinking that highschool is a pretty decent waste of time.

shoutout goes to my lovely sister, who stinkin' went to ocean city without me for a few days.  it's not that long, but i still miss her.

love to you all,

sarah

yo.  i haven't entirely fallen off the face of the earth, for anyone who wondered.  in absense of anything worthwhile to say, here is a poem:

Lift your foot, take a step;

 Cross this broken ground.

 The earth that lies before is dark--

 Your final light's gone out.

 Casting shadows on the furrowed trail,

 The single lantern stayed.

 But now the glow that led your walk

 Swells black, as ashes on a flame.

 Each stride echoes across the land--

 This path formed of your past.

 No turning back–you’ve come too far;

 You numb your heart, and last.

 With blind eyes turned from what is now;

 Shielded from the callous truth,

 You tell yourself that all is well,

 That the road before is smooth.

 The myth you live is an escape

 From reality – from truth.

 You’re afraid to light your lamp again;

 To see the world anew.

  Broken heart and broken soul:

 Open eyes and just let go.

 Search around this barren road

 And find the Light that gives new hope.

 An eternal lamp for tired feet

 And a beam to guide your path;

 Take hold of life, and take this light--

 An enduring second chance.

 Lift your foot, take a step;

 Cross this broken ground.

Seize up His torch and move ahead—

 Extinguish the darkness that surrounds.

good morning :)  so christmas was good, new year's was good, and now i'm back at work.  (yeah, really fun.)  hmm...good stuff about this break:

1.  time off work and school.

2.  i finally saw narnia

3.  new year's eve spent with the parents and grandparents isn't terribly boring (even if most of them went to bed by 10 pm)

4.  i turn 20 next year (i find that a bit scary)

5.  i got another acceptance letter (Philadelphia University this time.  good design school, if only i was going.)

6.  the youth band played for the new year's eve service at church (ok, maybe that's not an incredibly good thing, but still...)

7. fine arts application deadline is like, tomorrow.  hm.  i'm thinking my poem needs to get finished really soon.

8.  only 4 months left of high school :).

later!
